That is almost done. SuSE runs a bunch of scripts that set up your
configuration files and check security. What kind of machine are you
installing it on? If you need pcmcia, you have to tell it when you install,
so that it uses sets up the pcmcia kernel modules. You could
a) re-install and use the autoload modules feature.
b) Use the live filesystem on disk one to boot the system and start yast to
fix your troubles. just use the adjust installation option.

If you want to bring your machine to the meeting on Monday, I'll walk you
through an install. It's a lot different than most other distributions. I
actually recommend buying the thing (Gasp? pay for linux?!?) because the
manual is great and walks you step by step through the install.

Let me know whether you want to install at the meeting, and I'll get there
early (er).

Ryan talked me into it. I tried installing SuSE.

Didn't go so well... It gets to what seems almost done. It says "Now
the scripts must be started...You can now already use your system...."
alogn with some other stuff in there... Then it enters runlevel 2 and
says something about the serial ports. then it says PCMCIA: n/a (unset)

after that nothing happens. I let it set all weekend and whenever I
came back it was at the same spot. I've tried it twice more and it
hangs at the same spot.

What gives?
