I would suggest this: Learn the commands and stuff - before you start to
use X or another graphical interface. I have found knowing how the "system"
works is the best way to learn. This way you learn what your box is doing
when it's In a graphical mode. Make sense? I would suggest using Slackware
to learn on. Others will have their opinions - but it is simple and doesn't
take up as much space.
