I totally agree with this.  GNOME 1.0 is still buggy, I'd expect to see a
1.01 release in the near future.

Here's what I have run into:
1) GMC (the file manager) still dumps core
2) gnomecc (the control center) doesn't even think enlightenment (the
default gnome window manager) is even running to configure.
3) The install process corruptes the freelist in the RPM database
(assuming your using the RPMs).  Had to use "rpm --rebuild-db) to repair.

My biggest complaint, assuming that GNOME was to be the KDE competition,
is that comparing both versions at the 1.0 state, GNOME is lacking.

The KDE crew made sure that there was a set of useful applications
included with their 1.0 release.  GNOME on the other hand, probably
feeling pressured to get a 1.0, only did part of the job IMHO.  Now I will
admit I probably should have done a clean install instead of upgrading to
make my judgement call.  Altough GNOME looks prettier, KDE was/is alot
more functional at 1.0.
