There was no increase in any of the marginal tax rate brackets, so how
are there "higher taxes on the lower and middle classes?" About the only
thing I can think of is the income limit where the alternative minimum
tax comes into play has not changed, meaning more people have to pay
that. But the alternative minimum tax is a "rich person tax" and
somebody the Democrats define as lower or middle class would not have to
pay it. Mike may say that the taxes are higher on the lower and middle
classes are higher because the ratio of their tax percentage to the
higher earner's tax percentage is a little higher than before, so they
have a *relative* increase in tax percentage than before. But they are
actually paying fewer dollars and a lower percentage than under Clinton.
You can say literally anything you want to if you phrase your response
just so.
