Two questions:

(1) what will contributors to moveon.org receive if a Democrat is elected?

No more than the swiftboaters stood to gain if Bush was elected. The same favors are available on both sides.
I can understand why he would do that.  The war was heinous, so he was rejecting honors for cooperating with the war effort.  But did he serve his country and face enemy fire?  Yes.  So people who respect that may do so.  With Vietnam, times and attitudes have shifted considerably over the years.  Kerry didn't want it both ways at one point in time, but he wanted it different ways at different times and that reflects how most people see the Vietnam war.

Well interestingly enough, this same argument can be used to defend Bush's ad Clinton's absense for the war, so then why did Kerry even feel the need to run on his military record? Afterall, he was the one that started the discussion. Had it not been for him painting himself as a war hero, none of this swiftboat stuff would have been remotely relavent.
