Google already have spf records in place, so I'd guess unless something's very wrong and they were able to send via google's smtp servers, most the messages would have been discarded or sent straight to the junk folder.
I'm curious as to why you trust Google to handle business mail and more so, the address you use for it. Should anything change with the way they work, your account is tied to one provider. Especially when Google offer google apps for your domain. You could register margrages.com for $10/year and still get all the advantages of gmail etc, but know you can pick it up and leave at any time in the future.
