Well, drive letter changing from machine to machine would not really be a problem as that particular system will be looking for the same drive letter at each start up. The machine would not automatically change the drive letter unless a new drive was plugged in first. Then ther is a possibility that the first drive will assume the drive letter that the system is looking for.

It all depends on whether the application requires a registry entry. I have seen some programs where we have literally copied the installation directory between machines and executed the file. Not having installed the software at all, but the application still ran.
I am not sure WinAmp is one of those. If it does write a registry entry, then it will likely work as long as the drive letter does not change, however, if you try and load up Windows without the E: drive, then Windows might complain about that.
So if it's on a flash drive, say, the drive letter will change when I move it from machine to machine. That might cause it to fail. That would suck! There should be a way around that.
