Why are musicians such a bunch of crazy drug addicts? Seriously. I was
just thinking about some of my faves and noticing that a lot of them had
miserable lives. So many had drug problems. There were a few suicides
and homicides. A bunch more of these people worked in really mediocre
jobs despite world-class musical ability. So what's the deal?
I'm thinking it is really hard to get to be that good and you have to give
up a lot to pull it off. "Musician" doesn't tend to pay all that well.
But maybe it has something to do with the connection between musical
creativity and mental illness.
What do you think?
Mike
