Not really, but some amount of connection is always there. It's better to reframe the issue and focus on transparency, reliability, fraud detection, etc.

It will always be a given, but like you said, focus on the other parts and I think it makes it not as worthwhile to invest in and corrupt, and makes it better overall to utilize another method, such as the Condorcet one you mentioned earlier. Would that lead to a more democratic election, or would it lead to more autocracy/theocracy? Just looking at the flip side of the coin..

I don't understand your question.

Fair enough, let's break it down:

Would
     3. (used in place of will, to make a statement or form a question less
direct or blunt): That would scarcely be fair. Would you be so kind?

that
     1. (used to indicate a person, thing, idea, state, event, time,
remark, etc., as pointed out or present, mentioned before, supposed to be
understood, or by way of emphasis): That is her mother. After that we saw
each other.

4.to guide in direction, course, action, opinion, etc.; bring: You can lead
her around to your point of view if you are persistent.

to

thing approached and reached, as opposed to from): They came to the house.

more
7.in or to a greater extent or degree (in this sense often used before
adjectives and adverbs, and regularly before those of more than two
syllables, to form comparative phrases having the same force and effect as
the comparative degree formed by the termination -er): more interesting;
more slowly.

democratic
2.pertaining to or characterized by the principle of political or social
equality for all: democratic treatment.

election
     1. the selection of a person or persons for office by vote.
     2. a public vote upon a proposition submitted.
     3. the act of electing.
(take your pick)

,
1.the sign (,), a mark of punctuation used for indicating a division in a
sentence, as in setting off a word, phrase, or clause, esp. when such a
division is accompanied by a slight pause or is to be noted in order to give
order to the sequential elements of the sentence. It is also used to
separate items in a list, to mark off thousands in numerals, to separate
types or levels of information in bibliographic and other data, and, in
Europe, as a decimal point. (see comma)

or

books or magazines; to be or not to be.

it
4.(used to represent a concept or abstract idea understood or previously
stated): It all started with Adam and Eve. He has been taught to believe it
all his life.

her around to your point of view if you are persistent.

the comparative degree formed by the termination -er): more interesting;

autocracy

over others; the government or power of an absolute monarch. (gee, that
sounds familiar)

/
1.a short oblique stroke (/) between two words indicating that whichever is
appropriate may be chosen to complete the sense of the text in which they
occur: The defendant and/or his/her attorney must appear in court. (see
virgule)

theocracy

?
1.Also called interrogation point, interrogation mark. a mark indicating a
question: usually, as in English, the mark (?) placed after a question.

"I don't understand your question."

Good one, you had me going there for a minute, but then I realized it was just a rhetorical question on your part to demean or belittle your "inferiors" in a debate.

But, if it will make it easier for you to understand, I will use terms suggested to me by a blonde:

Would a Condorcet voting system make our society fairer or would it take us down a path to dictatorship and less rights? (thanks Lisa)

By the way? I was agreeing with what you wrote and asked the question rhetorically; if you want to take exception to the previous part of my post, go ahead and argue with yourself...

Diana

ps I just realized this is all kind of a rehash of what Justin McNutt referred to in his post of Friday, January 04, 2008 4:36 PM

pps If you want an example of how to do what I am referring to in the latter part of my question, let me know and I will do my best to oblige you and let you pick it apart to find the fallacy in the argument :)
