It looks like they're getting $25 per disc for the 25 GB Blu-ray
rewritables:

And a pack of 50 BD-R (recordable, not rewritable) discs is going for only
$500 ($10 apiece). Six DVD-R discs would hold more but they would only
cost about $1.50. So BD-R is much pricier per GB. BD-R would be more
convenient though except that no one has a BD-R drive (no one I know at
least).
In fact, I'm not sure that it is even possible to buy a BD-RW or BD-R
drive. All I see on newegg.com are Blu-ray ROM drives going for just
under $200. Ooops -- just found four Blu-ray DVD burners going for $400
(2x by LiteOn), $440 (2x by Philips) or $600 (4x by Sony). Still too
pricey for me!
These new drives are pretty amazingly flexible. Take Sony's for example:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827131055
6X DVD+R
8X DVD+RW
4X DVD+R DL
16X DVD-R
6X DVD-RW
2X DVD-RAM
16X DVD-ROM
40X CD-R
32X CD-RW
40X CD-ROM
4X Blu-ray
All that for only $600! It's great that all those discs fit into the same
drive.
Mike
