A radio program I was listening to the other day was saying that the decision between Blu Ray and HD DVD is likely to be a moot decision anyway. They were saying that more and more people are going to be able to have HD movies on demand and people will be able to download the titles they want.
Certainly there is already movement in this area though it will likely be some time before it replaces the drive formats.

Right. It was playing out a lot differently this time around.

So maybe companies now making HD-DVDs will quit doing so and will start
making Blu-ray discs? If so, that will be decisive.

Same here, and also I'll need a better TV. I was looking at a Sony HD set
playing a Blu-ray disc in the store the other day. It was pretty amazing.
I'm still satisfied with what I have though. If I start watching HD, it
will be hard to stand ordinary TV anymore.
