I agree with your analysis. At least the republicans have a reason, the
democrats? What is their motivation? Some would say compassion, others
would say to increase their voter base.
Politicians work primarily for votes (or money that can be used to buy
votes through advertising). It wouldn't just be the votes of immigrants,
but the votes of other people who like the Democrat position on
immigration.
