I mostly agree with you on this. The Republican party represents mostly
wealthy people and businesses and they sometimes like to hire illegal
immigrants because of the low wages, so the Republicans don't want to do
what you suggest.
I agree with your analysis. At least the republicans have a reason, the democrats? What is their motivation? Some would say compassion, others would say to increase their voter base.
