that's pretty sad, imo. i just don't understand the spam industry.
I think the spam industry makes sense -- add a near zero cost of sending a
message to a near zero response rate and you end up with something like 10
new customers for every million messages sent. Or maybe they are hoping
for that number, but they don't know until you try, so they try and find
that they got zero customers per million messages, but hey, it was worth a
try because it cost next to nothing to do it.
My brother has his own small business, so I've seen how important
advertising is -- it's everything. You have to get the word out. So I
can see why spam happens. Not every newspaper/TV/radio/leaflet
advertisement brings a new customer and not every million spam messages
brings a new customer, but people are desperate for customers so they try
all kinds of tactics to find them. Of course, you have to be a little
sleazy to take the spam route, or maybe really desperate.
