Just out of curiosity, what is the definition of spam? I have gotten on a few mailing lists where they mail the dickens out of you by your opting in, and I would think if you have the ability to opt out, it would not be spam. On the flip side on the coin, there were some I know I did not sign up for that had opt out clauses (I have a nice little spam address that I send all my disposable stuff to, I am up to a little over 4,000 emails a day, all spam). It would seem to me that with digital signing based on the ip and message id, one could create a secure mail system that could block a lot of traffic from spammers (except open mail relays, which should just be blocked on principle). I just wish I knew how to code so I could make a mail client that would be by invitation only (biomail?) and not allow anything but the whitelist through without the keycode. Would this be a server side app? No, it would probably be too processor intensive and bog down the system. I know what I want, but have yet to find it (not that I could use it at work /sigh).
