I openly post my email addresses all over the place and it doesn't cause me much grief. Spam isn't that big an issue for me. I actually have more problems because of false positives in anti-spam software at the server level. Unfortunately we use IpSwitch's iMail which doesn't seem to have a way to turn off spam filtering per user. It causes me a lot of trouble with automated systems that are supposed to receive and handle incoming mail. We have to leave the anti-spam feature on at the server because most people in our office use either our web mail interface or Outlook - neither of which have adequate spam filtering.
My solution to spam would be to have a confirmed spam list that could be joined and have all users of the list have automated systems to constantly pound the URL's on the confirmed spam list. Make their servers to slow to use and their bandwidth bills expensive. Take away the possible benefit of making a profit and they'll stop spamming.
