OK, so I need a new DVD player and this caught my eye and I don't know
if I should buy it or a BluRay player.
What is the conclusion of this list who the winner of the format war is
going to be?
I'll have to guess that it works out just like Beta/VHS. In that "war"
you had Sony taking the side of Beta and ultimately "losing," but did they
really lose? Are they going to lose now? Think about it from their
perspective: They sell movies on disc and they sell players. Anyone who
wants to watch Sony movies in HD will have to buy BluRay. Sony will sell
BluRay players and BluRay discs. After some time, when BluRay falls out
of favor, Sony will sell HD-DVD devices, even to the Sony-loving consumers
who bought BluRay earlier on. That's how it went with Beta/VHS. Sony
wins even when they lose!
In other words, I'd go with HD-DVD.
That looks like a great price. Compare $99 with these prices...
