Regardless, by putting a specific child in the spotlight you are
pandering to emotion not reason.
No, it isn't just emotion and not reason. This is an example of a child
who benefitted from S-CHIP. It is very reasonable to look at many such
examples while making a decision about whether S-CHIP should be expanded.
Why not rationally show what happens to a society that doesn't maintain
the health of its children? That seems to take care of things without
putting a 12 year old in harms way for political gain.
In what sense was the child "in harm's way?" Why should we prefer an
argument that offers no specific examples to one that does offer such
examples? If you want to know what a country is like with no health care
for poor children, look anywhere in the developing world. It's horrible.
So I guess you agree that S-CHIP should be expanded but you don't like
seeing an individual child shown as an example of the success of the
program.
