Exactly so. So why exactly did you bother to write the response you did?

Because the book is about Christianity, affluence and generosity.


It's been a while, but I believe that Sidler's argument is not that rich Christians are wicked, but that some of them may have lost track somewhat of what their duties to those who have less might be. (Again, not all of them, but there is an audience for the book.)

Isn't it easy for those who take the view I described to simply dismiss this argument? There has to be a way for Christians to justify oppulent lifestyles because Christian leaders have lived that way for millenia. The Pope seems to live rather well, for example.
