I don't recall "deriding" anyone, except for politicians. Wasn't I
writing about politicians?
That's very unusual as most people don't like to single their group out
as doing something that's not good.
I wouldn't say that people in my income bracket are doing anything
especially bad, and I didn't say anything of the sort. I would like to
see everyone make better choices about who they elect to public office and
I would like for those in office to represent their constituents, not
their biggest campaign contributors.
Sure, it's certainly not self-centered, but most people who have worked
hard for something really don't want to let it go very easily,
especially on terms somebody else would dictate.
Again, I don't know what you are talking about. It sounds like you think
I offered to allow someone else to take my income and spend it.
And getting back to the original topic, I think that everybody being
required to do some service for the government- building roads, serving
in the military, tutoring kids that are at risk of dropping out of
school, etc. wouldn't be a bad idea. I think that it would certainly
help to instill a work ethic that is pretty sorely lacking in this
country today.
I would much rather see everyone serve in the military with all of them
being forced to go to war, if their is a war, regardless of parental
income or political office. If that were the law, there would be no wars
for a long, long time. When the people declaring war and the people dying
in the war are not relatives, you are going to see more war.
