Yes and no. Don't buy computers or iPhones if they don't do you any
good, but I certainly think *I* get my money's worth out of the
computers I buy...but I buy and hold them for 3 years or more. This
was actually my argument for not getting a cell phone before: I
couldn't justify the additional cost. But that's no longer so clear,
especially since your phone really can do a lot more for you these
days.
Meanwhile, the "real" cost of the iPhone didn't go down by 33%; you're
still on the hook for two years to AT&T for a minimum of $60 per
month. So the effective cost went from about $2040 to $1840 over two
years. ~10% isn't zero, but it isn't anything to get completely
flummoxed about, either.
