They still have a way to go before they get me, as I still run a UK
phone. My Nokia E61 does 3G, has WIFI and can do VoIP natively (you get
to use your phone contacts etc - incoming VoIP calls look just like a
regular call), it has a great web browser, does GPS navigation with
voice instructions in the car (using an external bluetooth GPS adapter)
has a querty keyboard and putty for SSHing and if I want it will happily
play MP3s.
It was free with a one year contract.
So why do people keep saying that we live in the greatest country on
Earth? That is a ruse to make us happy with the crap we're getting for
our money. The fact is, when it comes to new technology, we are not the
world leader. We lag well behind many nations on things like internet
speed, availability and cost. Check this out:
