Well first of all, it was not Cheney, nor was it Libby behind all of this. Novak and Armitege both came out and said Libby, Cheney and Rove had nothing to do with it, that Armitegs was the source of the name.

 

Now, the democrats in this country, frothing at the mouth to pin something, anything on Bush, Rove and Cheney are so entrenched into lunacy that they cannot accept the fact that the leak did not come from above. Afterall, it was Wilson who was criticizing Bush wasn't it? Since the democrats are known for political retaliation of this type , particularly from the Clinton years, it stands to reason that if the democrats would play this political game, then of course the republicans are doing the same thing.

 

I understand the psychology, but the facts do not hold up.

 

Now, should Libby go to jail for perjury? Yes he should, but Bush has the ability and presidential right to commute, or full on pardon him if he so chooses. Even if Libby went to jail, he would be pardoned when Bush left office anyway, I think that was established fact, and while the judge should not have used that in the consideration of the sentence, I would not be surprised if the judge sentenced him to that only to know he would be pardoned.

I thought it was inevitable because I have always believed that Cheney was
behind the whole debacle and he would have promised a pardon to Libby in
exchange for Libby keeping his mouth shut.  So Bush lets Libby off the
hook for being a good criminal conspirator and other workers in the
Executive Branch know that they can violate the law for their bosses with
impunity.

Maybe someday Bush will regret this just as Clinton regrets pardoning Marc
Rich.
