So? Armitage had already leaked it. Once information is released, especially in today's "always connected" world, it might as well be on the front page.

Apparently, Armitage told someone, he didn't do anything, so Libby had to go around spelling it out for people. Why was he doing that? You say "it may as well have been on the front page," but it wasn't. It was still unknown to almost everyone when Libby was telling people about it. The big question, obviously, is this: Why was Libby doing that? The obvious answer is that Cheney wanted him to do it.

Do you mean that Libby may still go to prison if the appeal fails?

I would certainly hope not. Ending his political career, probation, and a decent sized fine should be adequate in my eyes.

Sorry that I can't be understood -- you are saying that it is possible that Libby will be sentenced to serve a prison sentence if his appeal fails: Bush has not interfered with the appeal process. You hope not, but you are saying that you think Bush has not taken that possibility off the table. I think you are mistaken, but I'm not sure.

The clever way to lie in court is to say that you don't remember.

But you've already stated that you're ok with this...

Oh wait, it's not the "I don't recall" you're ok with, it's the blatant lying based on a potential difference in semantics.

Is this crazy? Yes, but this is what they did!!

I guess you don't know the difference between "blatant lying" and truthful answering. This bothers you a lot, I think, and causes you to bang your hands on the table, your face all red. That's how it goes. Welcome to the US legal system.

It's funny that a programmer doesn't get it. It's kinda like the student who complains about a program not working: "Well, yes, I left off the semicolon, but why can't the computer figure that out? That was obviously what I meant!" Courts are like computers.
