Yeah my phone has a slip cover with a hard piece of plastic in it that aligns over the screen to protect from keys.

With the Treo, it would be like that except that I slip it into a cover.
Now that might be what the iPhone is trying to avoid - a slip cover. I
guess you can just put the iPhone into your pocket as is and the glass
won't scratch on your coins and pens. I do see the advantage of that!
