Well, personally, I would rather have a phone that was sensitive to my touch than one that does a pocket call almost anytime i stuff it in my pocket.
 
My Audiovox 6600 does exactly that. It will respond to the touch of anything, pocket sides, stylus, felt tip pens, cat paws, rocks, and keys.

That makes sense.  Wouldn't a metal stylus work?  If it conducts
electricity well, wouldn't it have the same potential as the fingers it is
touching?

The stylus would be good for precision, but it wouldn't allow for Apple's
outstanding new multitouch feature.

I guess Apple's new touch design implies that multitouch doesn't work with
old-fashioned touch screens like the one on my Treo.
