It is entirely possible that you only downloaded SiCKO without uploading
anything- you could have gotten it from a Web server, been passed it in
a chat room, or gotten it from a newsgroup binary server. USUALLY you
have to upload as well as download to use peer-to-peer, so I am guessing
that you didn't use that. Besides, some people think that merely having
a P2P app installed is admission of guilt.
What the courts could do to you is subpoena you for your source of the
file. That party DID upload it and are liable. You are likely not liable
for much. But if you don't tell where you got it from, you could be held
for obstruction of justice and fined.
That's a good point. Someone might have been copying it from me even
before I had downloaded it fully and looked it it to see what it was.
It came in parts and I had to use 7-zip to assemble it. Some kind of RAR
thing that I have never studied, but 7-zip knew what to do and it created
the .avi file for me.
