The studios likely very well know where the stuff is coming from and
would rather try to hoodwink the legislators into letting them get more
and more control that's currently illegal under the Software Copyright
Act of 1976 than actually fight the problem. It's a very shrewd maneuver
on their part, but it also speaks volumes at how oblivious and idiotic
the legislators and some in the general public and media are in
believing it.
They made DVDs and gave them to people. They must have seen this coming.
I'm not saying that they wanted it to happen, but they could have avoided
it if they really wanted to.
