How old is that fan? I would say get a new one because fans are really
cheap and new processors aren't as cheap ;)
On an old machine, you can open the fan up and put a drop of oil on
the shaft. Or you can remove the fan and underclock the machine to
keep the CPU at a reasonable temperature. I've done both.
On a newer machine, just replace the fan with a new one.
Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll probably get a new fan. In fact, I might
take this opportunity to replace the mobo altogether. It's almost 2 years
old, so not old, but not all that new. I always buy things that are not
cutting edge (it's just not worth the money). By now I can probably make
it a lot faster for not too much money.
