Howdy folks,
Went bust, learned some business lessons, and am rebuilding things. Worked two full-time jobs for a while to recover financially enough that I'm not on the verge of being homeless anymore. Recently quit the suck job working for AT&T/Cingular but am planning to keep the better job for a few years.

I now work at a wholesale plumbing distributor and am bringing their many systems into order (see my previous post about the new dual-quad-core Xeon system running as a VMWare server), writing some hardcore code that will allow us to interface our million dollar inventory and business management software with all sorts of other systems via XML-RPC, building, managing, and marketing several websites, etc. In the meantime I'm contributing to the OLPC project, working on several projects of my own, and working towards getting my own businesses back in business by partnering with people that want to handle the customer service, product fulfillment, and cash handling while I stick to the things I do best which are technical and marketing issues.

As Jenn said, I also got married recently. Here's a few pics for those that care to see. [http://picasaweb.google.com/vmarble/McGlothlinWedding] I recently became an uncle for the second time and would not be surprised if I don't have a kid of my own within a year or so. I'm working on getting back into school to finish a CS degree with a business minor although I keep considering a double degree in physics and chemistry. The double will probably have to wait until I finish my CS degree though as the CS is more practical. May, in time, also work with my current employer to spin off one or more joint ventures other than plumbing as we think that our technical services could easily become it's own company and we're interesting in selling other lines of products besides plumbing. Probably will get back into the pool and spa market one way or another within a year. Have been considering the idea of writing some sort of book on interfacing with the expensive, poorly documented, massive pain-in-the-ass inventory (etc) system we, and many other distributors, use. Th e available literature, support, etc really sucks so I figure businesses that were willing to shell out half a million dollars or more for the software might be willing to buy a book that gives them an easy way through the hell I've already waded through and beat into submission. At this point I'm pretty sure I know more about the software than the company selling the software (Intuit).

All in all - been a bit busy. :)
What happened to Michael, a.k.a., "Mogmios"?

My guess is that he is not writing to the list because he is busy with some really cool project and making a bunch of money. I hope that's it. Anyone know? Jennifer?
