No, I think we should fire every single career politician in office and replace them actual civil servants. Probably a stupid idea, but we have to do something about lobbyists and the fact that our government "for the people" no longer represents us...we're starting to enter a flat spin from which I'm not sure we're going to escape from.

I think we should kill crazy people who would as soon set both you and I on fire as look at us whether that gets us cheap oil or not. Assuming that violence is not an acceptable solution is pacifist and defeatist in a world populated by people for whom violence is an everyday occurrence. Do you also disagree that America's current inability to commit to anything due to internal strife is also, at least partially, responsible for the Soviet Union's upgraded cold war tactics of the last few years? i.e., thinly veiled negotiations trading weapons and support for oil with overtly terrorist countries using the SU's security council veto as a bargaining chip against any possible British or US sanction attempts.

Regarding oil, I'd like to see our dependence on it ended. It's a finite resource, we know it's going to run out, so why aren't we devoting billions of dollars to building up a solar/nuclear/wind infrastructure to at least begin mitigating our need for it?

I think there are other reasons, like ego, like knowing that many Republicans will lose votes if he stops the war, like other ways of enriching wealthy supporters. I'm sure there is a long list, but I won't be putting "don't want to lose to the terrorists" on that list.

So you think we should kill people and act crazy so that we can get cheaper oil? First, I have no reason to believe it works that way. Second, I think that would be wrong. Third, there are many negative consequences of doing such a foolish thing and those might outweigh any gains made in oil prices.
