The last I heard, it is not actually clear where the border is here
because of the way the Iran-Iraq war ended. We are talking about a
matter of several hundred yards here. The obvious reason why Iran
would be skittish about any incursions relates to the fact that there
are two US carrier groups and some other British forces in the Gulf;
there are rumors of imminent attack on a daily basis.

At one time, I thought the expected attack was probable, but I think
now that it is less likely. Any public support gained by such a move
would be very short-lived, oil prices would probably zoom over $100 a
barrel, and there is a decent chance we could even lose some ships in
the bargain.
