Yes they are (Debian) Linux shell accounts, so you can run your own programs including cron...  but being shared hosting there are a few restrictions, such as don't chew up excessive resources, and don't run servers beyond the ones they provide (probably due to the security risk).

Those are Linux shell accounts?  Like on MLUG?

Can you run your own programs on their system?
