I much prefer to pay 1and1 $10 a month to get 150gb, 15gb transfer,
4000 email with spam and virus filters, unlimited domains and
subdomains, the ability to setup ftp accounts, 100 MySQL databases, and
so very much more

I don't get it. Is that really all they have to offer? It looks like

I am not sure it works this way, but if it does then their site
is misleading. For instance everywhere on the site it says the monthly
DOWNLOAD limit is 1 gigabyte. Now this to me would mean that uploading
does not count against your total. Which would make sense because you
would not want to have a situation where people were doing warez and
soaking up the bandwidth on the site.
They also have a file size limit. On the free version, the
largest file you can download is 10MB. Now maybe they will let you
upload a file larger than that, but then not let you download the file
unless you pay for an upgrade. That would certainly be a way to coax
more business out of your customers and I could see a company doing
something like that.
You know though, I would pay the $4.95 per month to have that kind
of storage. I paid almost that per month for my image hosting company
that later for shutdown. I have Picasa now, but Picasa as far as I know
will not let you do non-image type files as well. I have been using my
Gmail account for backing up those important documents that I do not
want to risk losing.
