On one of the three occasions where he got it wrong he said "we won" the award. Of course he hadn't won it and neither had his show. The show won a different award, after he'd left and for an episode he had nothing to do with.

The thing that I find strange and frustrating is that you and Stephen can't just accept what happened, as it obviously did happen. Why pretend? Why twist everything around and make excuses for this guy? It's not as if he is your friend but you act like he is.

He failed as a comedian? What do you mean by that? Are you lying or are you just ignorant and inaccurate? How many millions of dollars does someone have to make in comedy before he is not a failure in your eyes?

Interesting, I never really thought about that, but I assume that you are saying that Franken decided to stop being a comedian in order to write political books and be a radio talk show host.

Duh -- yes!!! He is running for US Senator for Minnesota in 2008. That might be a step down in pay from what he was making in comedy (more for writing than performing) but it is a big step up in prestige.

I assume then you do agree that he is a failed radio talk show host, I mean he could not keep Air-America out of bankruptcy could he?

I can agree that Air America is failing at least to the extent that it declared bankruptcy. Al Franken is still regularly on the air, getting attention, and I think that is what all people running for public office are looking for. So I wouldn't characterize it as a complete failure. I would say that his chances of defeating Senator Norm Coleman in 2008 are good. You know Franken is doing well when all the pro-Coleman bloggers can write about is Franken:

A recent poll showed Franken about 20 points behind Coleman (57 to 35), but that's a comedian against a sitting Senator. Franken hasn't started campaigning yet.
