A geeky emergency ice-cleat...  good old zip ties with the "knuckle"  
down to be used a single cleat....  They will work for about 10  
minutes and eventually break apart (cary extras) but, for the short  
term they work in a pinch...

I heard a phrase that covers the idiot drivers (bad weather or not):

"The quality of moron increases exponentially every day"
