I got to go home at 2 PM today because of the ice storm we're
beginning to have. While I was waiting 20 minutes in freezing rain and
sleet for my bus to come, I saw some of the very worst driving on
crappy roads I have ever witnessed. From the dozens of people I saw
skidding hither and yon, there were some consistent patterns of
stupidity
1) I have four wheel drive, which means I can go really fast because
I'll stop on a dime.
2) When I skid, I'll make violent steering motions in random
directions while leaning on the gas.
3) The sand truck says to follow by at least 48 feet, so I'll tailgate
the sucker and use my horn to make him speed up.
4) Same thing, only with that bus.
5) Clearing off my windshield before I try to drive wastes valuable
time, and I only need that six inch hole anyway.
Tonight we're expecting up to one inch of freezing rain. The carnage
will be legendary.
