I have to agree with you Mike, which is kind of sad if you think about it. People voting or not voting someone based on the color of their skin.

The truth is many, probably a huge majority of blacks will vote for him for no other reason.

Do you mean in the primary (then you might be right), or in the general election if he wins the primary? If he is the Democratic candidate for President, he will get the black vote. But any Democratic candidate for President will get the black vote. That's how it works.

The same is with the south where a huge number of whites will vote against him. I think everyone is fooling themselves if they think a vie-presidential candidate from the south will help bring the south on board if Obama runs. Edwards couldn't do it for Kerry.

I think the Democrats should just give up on some of those states.

One thing I am waiting for is to hear what he really stands for.

Who do you expect to tell you? Read his book:

He clearly is against the war in Iraq, and while that is very popular with a huge part of the nation right now, that is not the only thing that has to be considered. He seems to be in favor of higher taxes, and at least seems to be agreeing with the token attempts at addressing the immigration problem. I still need to see just how liberal he is.

You get to choose between higher taxes (in total, not necessarily for *you*) and higher national debt. Most people, when given the choice, prefer to reduce their debt burden than to spend like drunken sailors on shore leave. Unfortunately, our President is a spender, not a saver.

If he is going to raise taxes, then I hope he at least raises taxes on Mike too. :-)

How about raising them back to where they were for people making more than $200,000 per annum? That wouldn't affect me.

Mike
