The title is "So Far, Obama Can't Take Black Vote for Granted," which must
mean in the primary. If he is the Democrat candidate for President, then
he can take it for granted.
He isn't African-American (as in descended from American slaves), but he
*is* black by appearance. To a lot of white people, he's black. So if he
were elected, I think it would be a substantial step forward for
African-American people even though he isn't one of them.
