Yes, one of my CG teachers in town, Thom Howard used them, especially

However.. another problem exists when it's a man using acrylic nails for
their 'utility' value. It means that instead of popping them off and
cleaning their nails and pushing back the cuticle and then reattaching
them periodically, they just let them grow out with the nail and then
file the leading edge while the trailing edge has pulled a quarter inch
away from the cuticle and the whole thing has turned yellowish and sick
looking. When a woman puts them on, the aesthetic value is foremost,
and anyone who's seen these women with 3 inch nails can tell you that
utility is a distant last.... especially when they won't use them for
fear of popping them of f.
I've used them before myself but could never really get a handle on it.
Another option are the Alaska picks which wrap your finger, but your
nail extends through a gap and leaves the pick portion below the edge of
the nail. I've heard really great endorsements for them with greater
kinesthetic awareness.
I'm going to look into some of these options soon. I want to do more
guitar playing and the idea of using little built-in picks is pretty
appealing because it would work for a lot of different styles. I don't
want to get nail fungus though!!!!
