They charge millions of dollars for a 30 second spot. I don't think they
want people cutting the ads out. If they offer different ads depending on
what you want to see, then they would have two sets of advertisers paying
different amounts of money and they wouldn't know in advance which set of
ads people are most likely to watch. I think it would hurt their
business. So I don't see it changing any time soon.

They can have my PVR when they pry it from my cold dead hands. I don't
think I have watched 5 ads in the last year.
