Yes, there are limits here, but the whole idea is pretty empowering and
interesting. I am sure that journalism students of all kinds are going
to have a field day with this: what stories are on the front page, and
are they above or below the "fold"?
I'll bet you're right. Another nice thing: Every paper I checked there
had the front page available as "Readable PDF", which is fantastic. In
fact, I think they are doing this only for papers where the front page has
been made available as PDF. Some countries are massively overrepresented
and some have no front pages in the collection (e.g., I checked Ecuador,
Netherlands and Denmark). But 565 front pages is a great start! (Still
no Springfield, MA.)
By the way, how did "aqua teen hunger force" blinking-light thingies get
mistaken for any kind of terrorist device? Anytime someone spills a
little Splenda on the counter at work, I call the police just in case it
is anthrax. (Vern - I'm kidding.)
