No, Gore definitely admitted to smoking marijuana and he didn't even try
to pretend that it was an aberration. I saw him do this in an interview
but I'm sure you can find it on the web. Clinton claimed to have smoked
but not inhaled -- no one believed that! Bush -- I don't know what he has
said about it. Most people believe that he used marijuana and cocaine and
was an alcoholic but I'm not sure of the nature of the evidence for some
of those claims.
He will be the first serious presidential candidate to openly admit drug
use. If he becomes the Democrat nomoniee he will have to take a strong
Anti-Drug stance to negate what he did (and admitted to) in his earlier
life. If I was him I would be filming some Anti-Drug PSA's right now.
I don't know if he wants to draw extra attention to it. We'll see how it
works out. It is one of his problems though - you are right about that.
