While Mike was a bit of a jerk the way he dismissed your post, he is right about Social Security and FICA. Of course instead of posting the real amount of withholding somewhere between 7 and 8 %, he had to be show his arrogance once again.

I am also unfamiliar with this bill the president is expected to sign and I have been following these bills pretty closely. There is a bill that passed that says those that legally become citizens will be allowed to claim benefits on wages they made before becoming legal. Has nothing to do with paying in Mexican benefits though.

One thing though, I tend to agree with you about the closing of the borders, this has to be done. Bush should also be pressuring the Mexican government to correct the problems on their side of the border, but it is too easy to help their people come here and send the money back there.

It could be argued that it would be cheaper on the US if we just took Mexico by force and add their states to ours.

What I found interesting is that Kenya has closed their borders to refugees coming in from Somalia, despite the fact that many of these people are seriously in danger of losing their lives. It is interesting that any number of countries around the world do not allow people to come in and take their benefits including Mexico. Other countries, including Mexico enforce their borders and there is no outrage against that. For some reason, and in my own paranoid fashion, I believe the rest of the world wants America to weaken, to no longer be the world superpower we are. The UN has even gotten involved against the closing of our southern border, though there is little they can do.

Name one country in history that has survived with open borders and free immigration? What would an American have to do to own property in Mexico? How about going across the border and getting on their version of Social Security?

Anyway in my opinion, this is one of the largest problems facing this country and there is no one but a handful of republicans trying to do anything about it.

What is "this" - something you wrote or something you found somewhere?

Not true.  Done.
