Another reason I am a little leary of this whole flat tax affair is we have people from most political parties supporting it. We have Dick Armey on the left and we have people from the right like Daniel J. Mitchell, Ph.D., (http://www.heritage.org/about/staff/DanielMitchell.cfm). and then we have the page I mentioned in a previous message with libertarians, progressives, etc all commenting on its greatness. If so many politicians think it is so great, why haven't they done something before now? Besides, I get a little scared when so many politicians get together and agree on something like this and say it is "good for us."

Um it pretty much takes broad bi-partisan, or as you list, broad multi-partisan support of a thing to even get it considered in congress let alone pass... sorry, but Duh. All these folks being in support of it actually lends a suggestion that a lot of people from all different walks of life and political philosophies think it's a good idea. But seriously... how many things are there out there that a majority of people support that will never gain traction because of our political process. I mean Gee... a large majority of American's want the borders shut down tight as a drum but Bush and congress has betrayed this country and the will of it's people. A very liberal minority has managed to hijack our court system and allow abominations of our legal system that have most American's tearing their hair out and beating their breasts.

I really am just shocked to my very core. Mike and Jon I may disagree with but they are great at tearing holes in my arguments because they make sense, but to be against something because 'so many politicians get together and agree on something like this and say it is "good for us" ????? what planet are you from???? You make it sound like the only change should be brought and legislation passed on issues that have only lackluster support of a single party.

They support it because "It's good for us". It's certainly been excellent for other countries. Why not ours?

Then again, I could be full of it and it could all be a Republican plot to try to make the left look bad again...
Since when did they need the Republican party's help.... Really.. I ask you. And right now the Republican party is much too busy making itself look bad. They're doing such a fine job of it that it's a little difficult for us to concentrate on what asses the left are making of themselves. Now that takes some effort folks.
