No surprise there, but was it worth anything?
If you really want spending to be cut, the first thing that has to
happen is take away the automatic deduction system from pay checks. Make
those who work for a company do the same thing that those of us who have
a business have to do. Pay our taxes quarterly by writing out a check to
the government.
Once people realize just how much of their money actually goes to the
government by feeling the pain of making the payment, you will see
spending get under control. But because it is out of site, out of mind,
people don't feel the pain of having to write a check and see that money
go out.
That has nothing to do with spending -- that's all about taxing. Money
comes in (taxes) and it goes out (spending). As the Bushes and Reagan
have shown, there need be now relation between the two. We could do away
with all taxes tomorrow and continue to spend freely.
Besides, what makes you think that people don't already feel pain when
they see how much of their pay goes to taxes?
I think, Vern, that you have been conned so many times that your head is
spinning and you can't think straight.
