Here's my argument:

and

Both are excellent.
Plus there's the track record of states that use the flat-tax. Their
economies have thrived. Businesses choose to do business in their state
because of it. There are also records of other nations having huge
success from it. It actually results in revenue gains for the
governments but generally speaking lowers your tax bill... That seems a
conundrum until you read the literature.
There are also many more books on the subject, but those are two I've
had some acquaintance with and can sort of vouch for.
Yes... that was the tie-in.

Two words.... Flat Tax.
Two more words: Bad Idea. I don't have time at this moment to back
this up with an argument, but you don't make any argument for it
yourself, so there you go.
Also, I have no idea what this has to do with the topic that was being
discussed unless you want to point out that tax deductions can be
abused, especially by wealthier people. But that's an argument for
fewer deductions (and I am completely with you there) rather than a
flat tax rate, per se.
