I was reading something about people in Florida having voting machine trouble. I wonder if it's how they use the touch screen. Maybe it's a common reaction for people to think "No, I don't want that one!" and kind of brush across the screen causing a touch to register on the wrong record. Or maybe they check or press with their finger instead of just touching. I think the common way to fix this stuff is not to think, what would I as a technically savvy person do, but instead to see what these common voters that report the problem are doing. I think this is less likely going to be a plot, and more probably going to be a misunderstanding. Don't attribute any thing to malice that could be explained by unabashed stupidity or oversight.

I will remind people that when using the Ivotronic here in Boone County,
every time you press the screen there is a record of it on a printed
tape in a little window to the side of the touch screen. Every choice
you make can be verified on paper at any time while you're voting. Once
you submit it, it code stamps it and then it scrolls out of the visible
window.
