Show me this "appeasement mindset" in the public statements of any
Democrats in the House or the Senate. I think it is all imagined.
I think the Democrats have been more thoughtful and they would have done a
better job in the aftermath of 9/11 (if it would have occurred at all
under their watch). Under Democrat leadership I think America's status in
the world would have risen dramatically instead of plummeting (less
torture, less killing of innocent civilians, etc.). I think this would
have helped the situation in the Middle East. I also think that most
Republicans would have done a much better job than Bush has done. In
fact, I would have thought that Bush would have done a better job than
Bush has done, but I didn't know him well enough in those early days to
see how reckless and short-sighted he would be.
