Those that know me, know that I rarely send out missives of this sort.
But this is a dire situation and, I feel, amounts to a national tragedy
that requires the immediate attention of anyone who cares about great
literature and free thought.
Author Robert Anton Wilson is destitute and dying of
post-polio syndrome. For those who don't know, Mr. Wilson is the
author and co-author of what some consider to be among the greatest
written works ever produced. This includes most famously the
Illuminatus! Trilogy, but also the Cosmic Trigger series, Prometheus
Rising and many more. Some among you may consider this to be absurd
hyperbole. But the bottom line is that these works have brought
enjoyment and enlightenment to many, and their author is currently
dying in undeserved and ignoble circumstances. There are greater
injustices in the world, to be sure, but this one strikes a chord for
me personally and I am moved to share news of it.
I am providing what assistance I can to this national treasure
of a man, and I implore you to consider doing the same. I suggest that
you should at least read and think about what is happening to him and
why. If you are as moved as I am, then please do what you can. Spread
the word far and wide. This man should be celebrated and given a fond
farewell from this world befitting his true nature and stature.
